Berlin Fashion Week: Day 3
This is how you feel after three days of doing a fashion week: amazing and slightly burnt.
"I think its great how the shows start a bit later every day," my fashion week companion Barb Leung said at breakfast. Truly. Running around takes it out of you. Our first show was offsite just a block away from the tent, but even so we got disoriented and ended up inadvertently checking out a display of work by fashion students at Esmod.
I love looking at the work of fashion students because it always runs the gamut from terrible to awe-inspiring. The techniques may be slightly off sometimes like the detail above, but the ideas themselves are often fresh. This exhibit featured illustrations—none of which really wowed me to be honest—and corresponding fashion designs inspired by Rococo style. Some of the designs were not only incredible conceptually, but also well executed. On the following slides are two pieces that I particularly admired.
