Bridal Style Ideas: Second Dress
SAY "YES" TO A SECOND DRESS
After I got engaged, the first thing I did (like many brides before me) was go shopping for The Dress. But unlike many brides before me, I ended up buying the very first dress I tried on. It was love at first sight. Cue doves, high fives, and glitter cannons all around.
Months later, I was shopping with my mom for her outfit and ended up trying on, loving, and taking another dress home with me. Yup, I cheated on my dress. Initially, I felt super-guilty and wasn’t sure I even wanted to have a dress change at my wedding (after all, I was already in love with my first choice).
But now I'm very happy that my mom talked me into that second (much simpler) frock.
Buying a second gown, not only takes the pressure off your first dress, but it also gives you two opportunities to dress up in different looks. My first dress is a (very) tight-fitting mermaid-style gown, which I’m afraid would burst if I attempted to eat through the four-course Italian meal, and may be too hot to dance in on the (fingers crossed) warm May afternoon. My second gown is a free-flowing dress that I can wear with my hair down, flats thrown on, and eat to my heart’s content and dance till the break of dawn. And that, my friends, is a win in my books.
