It was love at first see-through for young Wills when he first set his eyes on Kate Middleton in a racy transparent dress. The now iconic lace and knit number, donned by Middleton at a charity fashion show, is set to be auctioned for up to $16,000.

Designed by fashion and textile student Charlotte Todd, the dress, which revealed Kate’s silky black delicates underneath, took only a week to make and was originally created as a skirt for a project entitled “The Art of Seduction.” It lived up to its purpose, as the Prince, who paid 200 pounds for a front-row seat at the St. Andrews University show in 2002, apparently cheekily courted his fiancée at the show’s after party. The auction, which will also include gowns worn by Princess Diana, will be held in central London on March 17.
