With all the buzz about the royal wedding, we just couldn’t resist joining in on the excitement. While there’s already been tons of speculation about what gown Kate Middleton will don, we’ve put our beauty brains to work to figure out what hair and makeup would best suit the princess-to-be.

On a bride’s big day, natural-looking makeup is often a safe yet gorgeous bet, especially for the ultra elegance of a royal wedding. Plus, given that Kate usually sticks to basic beauty, it’d be wise for her to stay true to her look as she walks down the aisle. To compliment her warm skin tone and chocolatey locks, we prescribe tones of peach and caramel for her lips and cheeks, as seen on Blumarine’s spring runway (not to mention the one and only Di on her wedding day). For her eyes, a bit of contouring with brown shadow can lend a gentle sophistication, while still leaving room for Kate to play up her best feature: those brows. With fresh skin and subtle makeup, Kate’s dark arches can take the spotlight for an elegant look befitting the occasion.

When it comes to hair, options abound for a bride like Kate, with her brown, layered locks that fall well past her shoulders. After much deliberation, we decided that we’d love to see her sport a curly half-up style, like Jennifer Love Hewitt’s ‘do at the 2007 Golden Globes. With natural-looking makeup, it seems right to let hair steal some attention–plus, it just seems wrong to hide Kate’s gorgeous tresses in an updo. A half-up style would make the most of the brunette’s length and shine, while still scoring the perfect polished touch. Just add a dazzling regal headpiece and voilà!

Now, tell us what you think: Do you agree or do you have something else in mind? What hair and makeup do you think Kate should opt for?
