The Bay's registry lets you trade toasters for shoes

Remember that episode of Sex and the City when Carrie registers for Manolo Blahniks? Fabulous and, unfortunately, fictional, but what if you could actually add shoes to your own wedding registry? The Bay might just be your best bet. Every bride worth her Wang registers there for the usual goods (tableware, linens, appliances etc.) but CEO Bonnie Brooks now wants to let brides register for ANYTHING in the store.

As the former head of Hong Kong’s lavish retailer Lane Crawford, Brooks noticed women coming in post-wedding to exchange china and other gifts from their registry for more luxurious goods they actually wanted – Louboutins anyone? And with labels like Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren and Lacoste now offering clothing and home goods at the Bay, the evolving shop offers couples a place where they can get designer duds across several departments – and the assurance that every single gift you receive is exactly to your taste.
