1. Get Outside
Visit the newly renovated Emera Oval skating rink at Halifax North Common (North Park St. at Cosswell St.) for a fun date—or to just to get in that bit of exercise! Best of all, skating lessons and rentals are free!

2. Boost Your Energy
Start off a healthier year with a five-day juice cleanse that will have you feeling amazing. The Juice Press Inc. (1475 Lower Water St.) offers a range of cleanses to help you detox, and you can incorporate food or just do the raw freshly pressed juices depending on how extreme you want to go.

3. Give Your Skin a Break
If you’re already feeling the effects of winter on your skin, hightail it to Spirit Spa (5150 Salter St.) for their Sweet Skin organic facial. It contains organic herbs and fruit pulp from plums, apricots, lime and raspberries to keep you hydrated and refreshed (plus smelling delish!).

4. Cure Your Winter Blues
Pick up some in-season blooms at The Flower Shop (1887 Granville St.) for a burst of much needed colour on grey winter days—and to will spring to come sooner! They also do a variety of workshops throughout the year including how to create terrariums, wreathes and table centerpieces, if you’re looking for a fun afternoon DIY project.

5. Nab a New Winter Coat
Now that the holiday spending is finally over, it’s time to treat yourself. Snag that winter coat you’ve been coveting at Foreign Affair (5639 Spring Garden Rd.), where seasonal sales are still going strong. Happy shopping!
