1. Put a (non-Insta) filter on it

Using a filter other than the general Instagram filters, such as Afterlight or Vsco, allows far finer detail tweaking, such as cropping, sharpening, exposure and highlight adjustments, and saturation. This is ideal if your image needs some work and the broad strokes of an Instagram filter might blow it out or darken it entirely. (Natalie’s favourite is Vsco HB2.)
