There’s no shortage of options online, but sometimes you won’t know the right dress until you see it IRL. So our Localist correspondent in Prairie City hit the streets to find the best shops for prom dresses in Saskatoon—that won’t leave you looking like a bridesmaid.

Vibe: This dress store is situated downtown in a beautiful, bright space that is filled with ruffles and tulle. Because it’s stocked with only the most recent trends in formalwear, grads come in early to make sure they get their dream dress before anyone else.
Tailoring on-site: Customization is common, but the tailoring is done off-site.

Vibe: Tonic is an independent shop in downtown Saskatoon, designed for the laid-back babe looking for the latest trends to adorn herself. This boutique has a chill, contemporary atmosphere with the added bonus of an online store, so you can consult with your friends before making the big decision.

The Princess Shop

Vibe: After several years of building their dress program, this shop now has thousands of donated dresses and accessories for anyone female-identifying who is graduating with a little less. Not only do they provide a dress, they also do your makeup, hair and rent the limo to make sure everything is beyond perfect.
Tailoring on-site: Customization and tailoring aren’t available, but with over 3,000 dresses donated from bridal shops and past grads, they’re determined to help you find a dress suited to you.
Appointments? Appointments are a must, and their is an application process involved.
Price range: A $40 deposit fee
