Kanye West Allegedly Loses His Shizz Over Yeezy Season 4

Yeezy Season 4—Kanye West's NYFW show—incurred the fury of fashion's elite. Now, the New York Post reports that West has fired 30 staffers in a fit of rage-slash-disappointment (depending on which unnamed "insider" you want to believe)

As we reported last month, the Yeezy Season 4 show was a wee bit of a disaster thanks to the extreme heat (models fainted!), the beyond late start (it was delayed by more than an hour!) and the inconvenient location (NYC’s Roosevelt Island, to which editors had to endure a 90-minute bus ride!). Now, the New York Post reports that Kanye West has fired all 30 Yeezy staffers responsible for the flop, though insider reports vary on exactly how it went down.

According to one such insider quoted in the piece, Kanye was v. v. upset:

“He had a nervous breakdown after the show, and that’s what triggered [the firings].”

However, another describes his reaction as merely “disappointed:”

“He didn’t have a ‘nervous breakdown.’ Some people got let go, and there was a reorganization of others who he moved back to the music side of things. He’s a grownup. He was reflective and disappointed in how things went . . . He took stock in what people were saying and he was disappointed. But he’s more determined than ever to get that stuff right.”

Whatever really happened, both sources agree that some heads did roll. Here, an updated look at the very dismal numbers behind the show.

Infinity and beyond: annoyed tweets and acidic reviews (some of our faves came from The Cut’s Stella Bugbee, the Washington Post’s Robin Givhan, the New York Times’ Vanessa Friedman and Fashionista’s Alyssa Vignan Klein, the latter of whom deserves bonus points for coining the phrase “let Yeezus take the wheel”)

90: minutes it took for #YeezyBuses—chock full of unimpressed editors—to travel from west Chelsea to Roosevelt Island

73: minutes after the official start time (3:00 p.m.) that the Kardashian crew (Kim, Kendall, Kylie) arrived. The show was eventually postponed to 4:00 p.m., and by many reports didn’t officially start until 4:13 p.m.

75: dollar amount for a commemorative Yeezy Season 4 long-sleeve t-shirt (to which one fashion editor quipped, “No one wants a shirt to an event they want to forget”)

30: the number of Kanye West staffers allegedly fired as a result of the debacle that was Yeezy Season 4.

3: the number of holding pens attendees were corralled into pre-show
