The festive season is in full swing and UNICEF Canada has officially launched its annual Holiday Media Challenge, which aims to raise awareness for the organization’s Survival Gifts program.
Never one to shy away from friendly competition for a good cause, the FLARE team took on eight other Canadian broadcast and print brands in a gingerbread showdown: a challenge to create the most unique and creative gingerbread “tent”-—based on the design of a real UNICEF health tent, which is one of their featured survival gifts.
After brainstorming meetings, intense decorating sessions and a whole lot of candy consumption, we produced a fashion-forward shelter, worthy of its very own exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario. But behind the layers of purple icing and polychromatic sprinkles, the tent represents much more than a traditional holiday treat or feat of high-fashion art. Because we participated, a UNICEF health tent—which provides children and communities with shelter to receive vital health care—has been generously purchased in FLARE’s name. But there’s more! The winning team will get even more donated in their name on behalf of UNICEF.
Contest closes December 19.
