Vanessa Paradis is kicking off the New Year with a resolution we all can benefit from. The French singer and actress, who recently split from a 14-year relationship with Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp, was revealed as the new face of H&M’s Conscious collection. The environmentally alert clothing range, due in stores come March, is prided on being crafted from a series of sustainable materials, including organic cotton, recycled polyester and Tencel.
“I like being a part of something like the Conscious collection at H&M. I try my best to shop consciously, and vintage is very much part of my wardrobe,” Paradis said, proving she’s every inch the poster girl for an environmentally friendly lifestyle. “I love the style and it works in an eco-friendly way because I like to use and reuse old clothes.”
Paradis previously enjoyed a two-decade reign as the face of Chanel, fronting sultry advertisements for Coco perfume and Rouge Coco lipstick. H&M boasts a roster of famous faces for their campaigns — from Lana Del Rey to David Beckham, and even ex Depp, circa 1999 — and the Lagerfeld muse is yet another lending her looks for the high street empire.
Paradis can be seen modeling a selection of pieces on the horizon for Spring 2013. A ruffle-edged sundress in the shade of canary, sporty ankle-strap heels, botanical print trousers, and a utility jacket complimented by embellished detailing, all bear romantic qualities as optimistic as the campaigns floral backdrop.
The full collection will launch alongside a Conscious garment collecting initiative, promoting the recycling of unwanted clothing—from any label—at selected H&M locations. In return, customers will be rewarded with a voucher in exchange for two bags of retired garments in an effort to prevent them from going to landfill. ‘Tis the season of renewal!
