Vancouver Style Diary: Tacos, Festival Fashion & Gifts for Kids

Blogger Cara McLeay, our Vancouver localist-at-large, shares the best shops, restaurants, events and style news going down in Van City

La Casita Tacos
This Robson Street restaurant does some of the best Mexican food Vancouver has to offer. It’s hands-down my favourite spot for fresh guacamole and chicken tinga tacos.

Holt Renfrew
I recently went to Holt’s to interview the beautiful and talented Rebecca Minkoff, and she shared some festival style must-haves: her label’s fringed Julian backpack and the Finn crossbody bag, below (remove the straps and it becomes a clutch—perfect for on the go!).

Rosewood Hotel Georgia Spa
I snuck away for an afternoon here, and it was bliss! Spotted during my visit: the Canucks’ Daniel Sedin… You just never know who you might spy catching some R&R.

Redfish Kids
With five- and one-year-old nieces, I’m always on the hunt for kids’ gifts that are just as exciting for the parents as for the children. Vancouver-founded shop Redfish Kids offers beautifully crafted clothing (including dresses I wish I could get in my size!), made locally and inspired by street style from cities like Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo. They also have gorgeous toys, books and trinkets.
