Planning a trip to NYC? Perhaps your time in the big apple will coincide with the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology’s (MFIT) upcoming exhibition, “Impact: Fifty Years of the CFDA,” which runs from February 10 to April 20, 2012.
The exhibit, which was conceived by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) President Diane von Furstenberg and designed with the fashion lover in mind, will feature 100 garments and accessories created by the most prominent American brands of the past 50 years. Images and info about over 600 other members will be part of the exhibit as well. Featured on the illustrious list are designer labels such as Halston, Bill Blass, Bob Mackie, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Rodarte and Proenza Schouler.
The CFDA currently has over 400 members and offers professional development funding, such as the CFDA Award of $300,000. This year’s prize went to New York-based designer Joseph Altuzarra.
