Vancouver-based denim company Triarchy likes a healthy dose of sex appeal. This season they situated their collection within a nautical theme. It’s hard to create a compelling runway show when you only make jeans, yet Triarchy made a valiant attempt with Lana Del Rey’s reliably crowd-pleasing music and a plethora of topless models. Suffice it to say, eyes were on the catwalk. The jeans themselves came in wide variety, though almost all were skintight. There was an of-the-moment ombré pair, a series of tie-dye jeggings in purple and grey – as well as super short shorts in the same pattern – and pair of sultry black waxed jeans with ankle zip cuffs. As their website claims: “These are jeans you can wear all day on your motorcycle – and still keep on for that last minute date.” As in years past, one of the designers, Ania, modeled herself, and wearing a bra no less. Others wore no more than thick rope wrapped strategically around their top half – there’s the nautical theme. While the jeans may not have been the focus of the audience, the impact was there.
