Travel Inspo: Arizona Resorting

This April snow has got us looking at warm weather escapes like The Boulders, an Arizona resort and spa that offers v. chill vibes

With winter weather making another unwanted appearance, it feels like the perfect time to start planning our next escape. What’s the opposite of Arctic Chill 2.0? The desert, or specifically, The Boulders Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Defrost:
As soon as you get there, the first thing on your to-do list should be to defrost. There are multiple ways to thaw at The Boulders: Steam room, check; warming turquoise clay wrap, check; lounging by the heated pool under the hot southwest sun, check! The spa also has its very own herb garden, where you can pick sumptuous ingredients for a custom massage oil you can take home. #spoiled

Eat:
With all that relaxing, you’ll have worked up an appetite. Trust us. The resort has six restaurants to choose from but our pick is the centrally-located Palo Verde which offers a fresh, lighter take on traditional southwestern cuisine.

Hike:
Smack in the middle of the property is a giant pile of boulders. (It’s not just a name.) They’re quite an imposing sight— most of the neighbouring terrain is flat—but after a slow but manageable hike to the summit you will be rewarded with a pretty insane view. Try to make your way up there by sundown, for that all-important #nofilter shot. If you want to keep exploring, the resort can hook you up with day excursions to epic outdoor adventures (ie, the Grand Canyon).

Chill:
The arid scenery and sweet-smelling air has a slow-it-down-and-chill effect on you, so embrace it! Step outside your casita and nature and all sorts of wildlife, including the adorable javelinas, surround you. Back at the spa, the labyrinth is great way to let things go as you spiral towards the centre.
