At Lucian Matis, flirtatious frocks in evocative textures swept down the runway. Generous layers featured raw-edging, further emphasized by abbreviated hemlines. The embellishment-loving designer’s play of mixed-materials was equal parts glam rock queen (think brushed-metal studs) and radiant romantic (voluminous shapes); both major style statements no matter which way your sensibility leans. The ornate woven looks were arguably the most standout exits with their cleverly cross-hatched ribbons in scorching orange and vivid purple. But before it all got a little too rich, Matis’ lush colour palette found a balance with body-hugging foundation pieces in solid skin tones and transparent skirts.
