Paying homage to a childhood spent designing dresses for his Barbies, David Dixon showed a fantasy-driven collection under a sparkling night sky. With monochromatic silk chiffon and laser-cut lace replacing tissue paper and doilies, Dixon took on a more sensual approach to his designs, something he mentioned toying with this season in a deliberate move to support his clientele’s, “sexier, romantic side.” Completely sheer skirts and lace bottoms proved to be the most interesting pieces, while princess-like gowns—a Dixon mainstay—made a soft, but shapely showing. Toronto’s own royalty and new face Chloe was among the notable catwalkers, whose doting mom (and fashion scene fixture) Suzanne Rogers gushed from the front row.
