Tired of borrowing from the boys? Vancouver’s menswear mecca Roden Grey is about to open version 2.0 on Water Street. And this time, the ladies will get a taste of why the store made Monocle Editor-in-Chief and style aficionado Tyler Brule’s top 10 retailers list, placing number two worldwide. The new incarnation will be filled with selects made by Barney’s New York’s very own women’s wear buyer. “We are known around the world as a leader in menswear, so it was only natural to make the transition into women’s, ” says the shop’s marketing manager, Douglas Barber. Besides the well-curated merch (which includes Band of Outsiders, Comme des Garcons and Pendleton for Opening Ceremony), the store itself is a site to behold. “The building is one of Canada’s oldest heritage buildings,” says Barber “The space will primarily consist of reclaimed wood, concrete, and glass.” A fusion of history and hyper-modernity – what could be more Vancouver than that?
