As a Ryerson design grad who participated in Mass Exodus almost a decade ago, attending the annual fashion show for final-year students is always nostalgic.

This year, the theme was innovation—fittingly, the third-year communication students who produced the show launched an app with information about the designers—and the runway selection was curated by Nicholas Mellamphy, buying director for The Room at Hudson’s Bay.

On the catwalk, the strongest designs combined wearability with innovative materials and a true sense of originality. Here are the best looks from the show—and the bright-eyed talents we’ll be watching out for.
