For those of you who missed Keeping Up With The Kardashians mid-season finale (yeah, that’s a thing now), we feel compelled to expound on the undeniable fact that Kim K. was looking like a major babe. Wait, scratch that—a major fashion babe. Decked out in neutral palettes of high-waisted pencil skirts and crop tops, plus sporting an ombré that rivals Jared Leto’s, it was clearer than ever that a stint in Paris plus guidance from Yeezus himself has helped Kim to settle on her style sweet spot. Scroll down for Kim’s best recent style moments, as she embraces stripped-down sophistication.
We knew something was up back in October when Kim was pictured in an evening ensemble that featured a white tee sans any kind of embellishment, and then chose to pair it with a blush Tom Ford PVC skirt and Alaïa Circle sandals (side note: we’re also totally coveting Kayne’s gold chain/chunky knit combo in this shot).
Fifty Shades of Beige
The simplified style continued when she stepped out in an all-beige outfit comprised of boxy Max Mara camel coat and nude sheath dress with thigh slit (another of the season’s most prominent trends).
NEVER did we think we’d see the day when Kim would opt for a look as sexless as the Canadian Tuxedo, yet she did so while still managing to elevate the look to bombshell status with a subtle cleave-reveal.
Evidently, Kim’s penchant for mannish Max Mara coats played a major role in her re-invention, with her pictured here wearing the Carrara style. The contrast of her sensual features with the androgynous shape of the coat is so chic, we think she may have even outdone Carine Roitfeld (who was also snapped wearing this exact same coat, if you can believe it).
Off-White and On-Trend
During Stéphane Rolland’s couture show, Kim was the epitome of modern luxury in an ivory silk jumpsuit by the designer, as well as diamond choker and metallic strappy heels.
Black is the New Black
The flawless mix of texture in this outfit confirmed Kim’s commitment to minimalist dressing. Her curves are strategically concealed and simultaneously enhanced, with interest derived from the variety of weights and finishes. She’s exuding that coveted brand of je ne sais quoi, non?
We know that taking a pair of scissors to anything Dior would be considered sacrilege in many circles (here at FLARE included), however, we have to say Kim’s mid-section splicing of the pastel pink dress she wore on Jimmy Kimmel back in January was actually an improvement. Not only did it draw the eye to the smallest part of her frame, thereby emphasizing her hourglass figure, but it also added some edge to what could otherwise have been construed as a too-saccharine offering.
The Valentino gown Kim wore to her surprise birthday/engagement party boasted a Delft ceramic pattern, which was rendered in stunning lilac beadwork. With its long sleeves and short neckline, it was another look we were surprised to see her in, but one that expertly complemented her complexion and body type. We’re hoping this new brand of understated Kardashian style is here to stay!
