With a new venue and stellar lineup the first night of The ShOws, now in its 4th season, started off on an exciting note. The Andrew Richard Designs building played host with the lofty white space creating a clean pallet for new creations. Day one included fresh face Tanya Taylor who presented at the MoMA in New York this past September and returning all-star Jean-Pierre Braganza based in London, England. Between the shows WGSN had our fashion sonar pointing to Fall 2014 with a visually inspiring trend presentation.
For Spring 2013, Tanya Taylor was inspired by the famed Sandy Lane hotel in Barbados where she will be married this coming April. The resort inspiration was clear in the flirty dresses with seductive cut outs, playful floral prints and bright pops of coral. Her stand out look was a strapless sequined floral evening dress.
Jean-Pierre Braganza’s signature asymmetry and sharp lines were apparent this seasons in his intricate beading and colour blocking. His latest collection stays true to his DNA but he took a lighter more feminine approach to his usual architectural digital prints. Softer pieces were balanced out with tough moto vests and erratic gradient prints.
