The Haute Couture Shows Begin Today

Today, we begin our coverage of the fall 2011 haute couture shows held in Paris. This season, we will be seeing a bit of change with new designers joining the roster of top labels. Giambattista Valli and Iris Van Herpen will debut their first couture collection but only as guests of the week, due to the strict laws surrounding couture and the standard of design that needs to be met in order to receive the title.

In addition to these new faces, it was recently announced that Bill Gaytten, right hand man to John Galliano, will act as the team leader for this season’s Dior’s couture show. Gaytten has also been named creative director for Galliano’s eponymous line.
