If two stars were ever meant to collide in collaboration, they would be Klaxon Howl and the Hudson’s Bay Company.
As part of its rebranding strategy, our nation’s oldest retailer partnered with the Toronto menswear label’s designer, Matt Robinson, to celebrate its heritage with staples in their iconic multi-colored blanket stripes.
First seen in Toronto on April 1 at LG Fashion Week, the ’30s-inspired war-hero models revealed a few of the partnership’s key pieces, such as the multi-coloured striped wool duffle bags and backpacks (meant for gents, but perfect for heritage-loving girls all the same), but also exclusive staples like two-toned cat-eyed pocket vest, and double-breasted jackets with leather trim detail.
Because the distinct stripes have become a must for vintage aficionados, it’s no surprise the nostalgia driven designer would be an ideal partner. Found exclusively in the heritage section at Hudson’s Bay Company flagship stores, this collaboration is a trip back in time in the most fashion-forward way.–Nina Mourin
