Attention Designers: TFI New Labels Is Open & First Prize Is $30K!

It's the non-profit's 30-year anniversary, which means a bigger party and a bigger prize for one Canadian womenswear designer

As of this week, TFI New Labels is accepting applications for the 2017 prize, open to all Canadian womenswear designers who have been in business for three years or less. And in honour of the Toronto Fashion Incubator‘s 30-year anniversary, the first prize winnings have been upped from $25,000 to a cool $30,000.

For the past three decades, TFI has brought together influencers, philanthropists and media to bolster new Canadian design talent through its TFI New Labels event. Runway shows culminate with the award, and in the past, that prize has helped jumpstart the careers of homegrown designers like David Dixon, Sid Neigum and 2016’s winner, Peggy Sue, whose farm-to-closet collection charmed the judges.

This year’s festivities also promise to impress, with over 700 industry insiders, creatives and entrepreneurs expected to celebrate the next wave of Canadian talent during the night’s provocatively named TFIXXX party.

The deadline for this year’s submission is November 3 at 5 p.m.
