Lingerie Française at DX
Sheer tops, lacey details and fancy hosiery never seem to go out of style, making clear that we are forever adapting our underwear to outerwear—after all, why should those sexy little things be kept a secret? This week, the Design Exchange in Toronto unveils a retrospective look at 100 years of French lingerie with Lingerie Française, presented by French association PROMINCOR (on display September 26 to October 13). From the constricting corsets of the late nineteenth century to the dainty and delicate bodysuits of present day, 11 prominent French lingerie manufacturers—Aubade, Barbara, Chantelle, Empreinte, Implicite, Lise Charmel, Lou, Maison Lejaby, Passionata, Princesse tam.tam and Simone Pérèle—showcase how undergarments have transformed the female form through time. Take a look at FLARE's favourite pieces while exhibit curator Catherine Ormen gives us a little lingerie lesson of our own.
