The Midi Skirt
There's something to be said for the art of compromise. While skirt styles typically tend to go the route of either mini or maxi, a length that meets right in the middle feels novel for spring. The ideal midi silhouette is one that's fitted at the waist and flares out slightly, hitting at, just above, or right below the knee. The longer length by no means necessitates a stuffy, buttoned-up look; instead, it's a great platform for playing with textures—from jacquard to brocade, leather and lace. The midi's springy shape also gives plenty of room to play up proportions (think crop tops), making it a go-to of street-style-circuit favourites like Taylor Tomasi-Hill and Shiona Turini. For the first time in ages, we're finding ourselves wanting to meet somewhere in the middle.
