Punk Pastel
Nobody thought rainbow hair would last, but as proven by our March cover star, Charlotte Free—whose modelling career took off despite her unconventional locks—sorbet is just getting bigger. "It's not like coloured hair of the '90s, which was strong and punky," says stylist Vittorio Masecchia, who touched up Free's signature strawberry for our shoot. "It's pastel, and the exposed roots give it softness."
1. Reach for bleach. Hair must be white-blond to start (golden hues will achieve an apricot shade, while darker manes will get a subtle rosy wash). Start with an at-home bleach kit. Use the supplied paintbrush to apply it in downward strokes, but begin at the ends and work your way up, gradually fading to help create that dip-dye, icy pink effect later on. Rinse according to kit instructions.
