Karl Lagerfeld was the keynote interviewee yesterday at LeWeb, the largest tech conference in Europe, and he revealed more details about his upcoming affordable clothing line while drawing an image of himself on his iPad. The designer divulged that the collection, which is modeled to some extent on his own image – read: leather, tuxedo jackets, stiff collars and lots of black, will be the first designer brand available exclusively online through luxury goods site, Net-A-Porter. Pieces range from about $95 to $450, meaning that Chanel-lovers with tiny budgets will have a much better chance of snagging an item or two created by Mr. Lagerfeld himself. It is now possible to sign up for updates about the line, debuting January 25, 2012, via Net-A-Porter.

Update: Net-A-Porter has released the first images of the 70-piece Karl by Karl Lagerfeld collection along with a description of some of the items. The collection has a rock ‘n’ roll vibe with a lot of leather, zippers and vinyl sleeves, mixed with a dressed up tuxedo approach including bib-front shirts, tuxedo stripes on pants and detachable collars. Black, white, silver and deep shades of burgundy and rose feature predominantly in the line made out of metallic silks, heavy cotton and wool, cotton jersey, leather and sequins.

Update: Karl by Karl Lagerfeld is set to launch on January 25 around the world and online. Net-a-Porter.com will reveal a special pop-up titled “The Window Shop” in five key markets where iPad 2 and iPhone users can click-to-buy the new collection.
