Stuart Weitzman opened an international flagship in Hong Kong’s IFC Mall this week. Weitzman’s second concept store—designed by Zaha Hadid, who also created the brand’s Milan boutique—does not disappoint; the interior features a futuristic, streamlined shop that looks more like the inside of a space ship than a shoe store. With rounded corners and distorted sightlines, the nouveau-Gaudi aesthetic gets two thumbs up from us.
“Collaboration continues to be a major company retail initiative to strengthen our presence in Asia and expansion worldwide,” Executive Chairman Stuart Weitzman said in a statement. “The IFC Mall location is the perfect global platform to offer the uniqueness of Zaha Hadid’s design as a showcase for [the label].”
Two more Hadid-designed flagships are to be opened by the end of 2014—one in London and another in Beijing. Weitzman is also planning on branching out into Korea, Taiwan, Australia, the Middle East and the Philippines. You can visit Stuart Weitzman in Toronto at 151 Bloor Street West, the Toronto Eaton Centre, Sherway Gardens and Yorkdale Shopping Centre. Weitzman also has stores in Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Edmonton.
