Question: I want to buy some sandal-inspired heels for this spring/summer, but I don’t know what to wear them with. Please teach me the basics of mixing summer wear and heels!
Answer: The hot trends shown on the spring/summer catwalks were gladiator, platform and peep-toe slides. The gladiator – flat and multi-laced up around the ankle, looks best with short shorts and flirty, pleated minis. Stay away from longish skirts – the ankle straps look best with bare legs. The platform heel was the runaway hit in a variety of materials, from cork, wood and perspex. They have a heavier sole and stacked heel which helps to balance voluminous tops, anoraks and floaty sack dresses. They are the modern answer to the pointy-toed pump. The peep-toe slide, much like a ballerina flat but with a cutout at the toe, is dressy enough for the office but also works with casual sporty pieces such as leggings and jeans on the weekend.
