Misty Fox, 28, is a Toronto-based Aussie makeup artist who has worked with Metric’s Emily Haines and rocker Alice Cooper. Close friends with model/TV host Alexa Chung, Fox shares the fashion muse’s offbeat-chic aesthetic. Here are some secrets behind her enviable style:

Boutique crawl:
“In Toronto I like to shop at Gadabout for vintage glamour. I also like Penny Arcade and Chasse Gardée for shoes.”

Beauty SOS: “I usually stock up my kit with natural and simple products from brands like Dr. Hauschka, Jurlique and Håkansson.”

Favourite gift: “My daughter Violet, 3, but if it has to be material, the Alexa bag by Mulberry.”

Seasonal style: “In the warmer weather I like to mix early ’60s ladylike with ’70s boyish looks. In the Canadian winter I wear whatever will keep me alive! I haven’t yet mastered the ‘winter babe’ look I see on Toronto women.”

Spring essential:
“A Tosca Delfino swimsuit.”

Favourite indulgence: “A facial at Elmwood Spa, or an afternoon in Trinity Bellwoods Park reading books on modern manners while eating sweet treats from Prague Fine Food Emporium.”

Beauty must-haves: Skin Nanny moisturizer from Lush–“It’s so hydrating, I feel like I’ve slept in a rainforest”–Kevin Murphy Luxury Rinse, M.A.C Fluidline Eyeliner in Blacktrax and Lorac Perfectly Lit Luminizing Powder. “Eye Believe by Cosmedix is the best under-eye cream I have ever tried.”

Scent secrets: “My favorite fragrance is earthy with the scent of  fresh seaside fruits entwined with notes of hyacinth and cedarwood. It’s unexpectedly pretty and I cannot tell you the name! It’s my secret weapon.
