As effervescent co-host of Breakfast Television, Toronto native Dina Pugliese is up at 4 a.m. five days a week in order to greet the rest of the Greater Toronto Area by 5:30 sharp. Recently, she’s also been putting in up to 18-hour days as host of Canada’s Got Talent (which airs on Citytv starting this month). Between her hectic TV schedule and her strict sleeping regimen (shut-eye is her No. 1 beauty secret), the 5’10” beauty—who’s just as funny and outgoing in person as her on-air persona suggests—miraculously finds time to savour the sights, sounds and tastes her city has to offer, as well as escaping south when time permits.
Fab Feasts: I really love GianCarlo’s on College Street for the ambiance and great food, but also love the fresh fish at Joso’s. Then there’s the simplicity of the thin-crust pizza at Libretto. Best slice of pie next to being in Roma!
TIFF Time: I love late summer, early fall. It’s usually when our perfect patio weather arrives. It also brings some serious star-gazing as the Toronto International Film Fest comes to town. Toronto is electric for those 10 days…Packing flats is a must.
Style Star: I love my skinny jeans and tank tops as much as I love my platform pumps and fitted dresses. Changing it up keeps things fresh and fun. Bottom line—don’t worry about the trendy hemline, wear whatever you feel good in.
Design Crushes: Kim Newport, Ines DiSanto, Greta Constantine and Sunny Fong…My fashionistas at Mijaneaux [in Woodbridge] have outfitted me from a.m. to p.m. for the last ten years! Even though I’ve moved out of Woodbridge, it’s awesome to be able to support them and their amazing gem of a store. You wouldn’t believe how far viewers have travelled to scoop up their pieces.
Accessories Queen: All accessories are my kryptonite! I love fun and flirty lines like Lia Sophia or Stella and Dot.
Citrus Scent: I love Jo Malone’s nectarine blosson. It’s fresh and light and clean.
Beauty Boost: Thank heavens for Tracy Peart, she paints my face on every morning (and for HD no less…She’s a miracle worker to say the least). Hair stylists tame my mane every other day for the show. I [also] love Hair on the Avenue.
