See Our Live Fashion Shoot From the Toronto Power Ball!

The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery sits right at the foot of Lake Ontario in Toronto’s Harbourfront neighbourhood. It’s unassuming at first, being an actual former power plant, but it’s home to some of the most innovative, interactive and inspiring contemporary art in the country (and it’s free year-round!). Every June, the gallery welcomes the city’s best dressed for their yearly fundraising bash, the Power Ball, one of the wildest, coolest parties of the year. Not only was FLARE there, we created a spectacle of our own by shooting a live fashion editorial with models clad in the luxurious pre-fall Max Mara collection as they interacted with guests, art installations and, of course food. The theme this year was Appetite For Excess and featured So Sorry, a food performance by renowned artist Jennifer Rubell (whom we featured in our May issue). Food was strategically placed throughout the Harbourfront Theatre (attached to the gallery) in hard-to-reach places, forcing people to say, “Sorry, sorry” as they squeezed past to reach octopus, ham, honeycombs, shrimp, bread and asparagus. Go inside and see for yourself…
