The last show of São Paulo Fashion Week‘s first day switched the event’s gears, leaving the solid colour palette of the previous three shows behind. It also gave me my first celebrity sighting of the week, as Paris Hilton walked the runway for Triton.
Opening the show in a black dress with a short a-line skirt, puff sleeves and neon details, Hilton held her own with the other models. (Whether or not her slightly slower walk was her signature or was required because of her ultra-high platform shoes, I’ll never know.) Her look was the first in a series of black and neon, which then turned to quilted fabrics, dresses with a sheen, fur details, and large ’70s-style florals. Inspired by New York City and the strength and perseverance of a new generation of women, designer Karen Fuke played perfectly into her “vintage-meets-designer” image.
