Twitter is zipping with news that Riccardo Tisci will succeed John Galliano as creative director of Christian Dior. Harper’s Bazaar writer and man-about-town Derek Blasberg tweeted that he’d received confirmation of the news while backstage at a Katy Perry concert. Blasberg does have his ear to the ground on these matters, though perhaps he was dazzled by one of Perry’s sparkly ensembles or whipped cream spouting bra.
In a competing rumor, Style.com tweeted on Monday that the Lanvin team “had been in tears all day.” Though designer Alber Elbaz has responded to early rumours of his candidacy at Dior by stating that he had no intention of leaving his current job. Not that this stopped tongues from wagging when Jason Wu attended the Lanvin show. In the fever-pitch, rumor-soaked climate of the past week this amounts to a confirmation of the New York designer’s move into Elbaz’s position.
The scuttlebutt on the Tisci move is that Haider Ackermann will move in to helm Givenchy. And we’re not even touching the rumours that Hannah MacGibbon is out at Chloé and that Stefano Pilati will be replaced by Hedi Slimane and Carine Roitfeld at YSL.
All this, and no confirmation on any of this from anyone official.
