Last night, fashionable rockers flocked to the red carpet for the American Music Awards in Los Angeles. Bieber Fever was at an all-time high, with young Justin winning all four awards he was nominated for, including Artist of the Year. Passing on the torch to Mr.Bieber, Taylor Swift (who won the award last year) took home Favourite Country Female this time around. However, it was her sophisticated new style and straight locks with bangs that had people talking. The country crooner slipped into a Collette Dinnigan embellished mini that made a sultry statement—a refreshing change from her usual girl next door prom dress and cascading curls look. Also stepping out with a new do, Rihanna hit the red carpet with matching tresses that beautifully complimented her deep red Elie Saab gown.  The sheer scarlet gown showed just the right amount of skin and was the perfect choice for the risk-taking songstress.

Mandy Moore made a simple statement in a short sequin Matthew Williamson dress and nude Jimmy Choo heels. The multicolor ensemble showed off the singer’s gorgeous gams and was a fun mix of texture and color. Jessica Alba, proved that she can party like a rockstar in her one-shoulder Cushnie et Ochs dress. The asymmetrical neckline and sculptural shoulder detailing of the futuristic LBD were expertly paired with a bold collar necklace and gold cuffs to complete the look.

And last but certainly not least, Fergie dazzled in an eclectic dress by Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock. Although we loved the feathered cobalt mini, we think that a cleaner hairstyle could have really allowed the embellished shoulder detailing to stand out.

But when it comes to music’s biggest names, less is never more, now is it?
