People flock to Vancouver for many reasons. For some, it’s the physical beauty; for others, it’s
to escape the snow. But for legions, it’s to join the thriving creative class. Over the past decade, the city has become a dynamic incubator for makers, designers and inventors of all kinds, especially those in fashion.

Men’s street wear label Wings + Horns, for example, recently collaborated with
New Balance to reimagine the classic MT580 sneaker in black leather, which garnered props from GQ, while Reigning Champ’s Sea to Sky series uses stretch nylon and terry cloth to capture everything that’s gorgeous and outdoorsy about Vancouver style.

In Gastown, the city’s laboratory of cool, Melanie Auld (pictured) designs colourful jewellery that marries a strong modern aesthetic with hints of global influence in her gold, silver and semi-precious collections. All three have been picked up by Nordstrom this fall, which is sure to propel them from the small batch to the big show.
