“The ’70s are really on point right now, and a major inspiration for my spring line,” said accessory designer Jenny Bird on Friday as she walked us through her new collection, interspersed with vintage pieces she has picked up in her travels. “These enamel pendants are just stunning. I think enamel is something that—done delicately—can look really beautiful. I also found the jade tusks and hand-strung them onto the gold chains.” Indeed, a bold mix of glam-slam extras (signature mega-tassle bags, outsize gold earrings, drippy necklaces) evoked the era of dancing queens. And for Bird, it’s a style that was due for a comeback. “I think the idea of looking chic but casual at the same time feels right again,” says Bird, who has been know to wear a silk jumpsuit with aplomb. “There’s a comfort and durability to the clothes, and yet there’s a romantic side too.”

That must be where her winning accessories come into play.
