Berlin Fashion Week: Day 1
January 18
Here's the "what's in my bag" meme, Berlin edition. Obviously with a combination of Canadian and UK electronic devices, a lot of what I am carrying around is electrical plug adaptors. I like to sketch at the shows (you'll see more of this stuff later), so I brought along a little watercolour sketchbook and a bunch of watercolour pencils. Just before I left for Berlin, I lost my little box of beautiful business cards, so improvisation was necessary - I just cut apart a bunch of old watercolour illustrations that didn't work out so great, and while I was waiting on the way, I inked in my details by hand. Super professional fashion blogger, eh?
Settled in, I had just a few hours to get a sense of Berlin. I walked along past all the grand museums, and went into this building, which was a warren of artists, galleries and bars, like nothing else I've ever seen. Since this is a working trip, I don't have a lot of time to explore, but even just a little taste tells me that Berlin is well worth returning to, next time with a totally empty itinerary.
