Peter Pilotto recently beat out stiff competition to win this year’s BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund. The buzzy designers have secured bespoke mentoring and a £200,000 grant to move their business to the next level over the next 12 months.
“Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos are an incredibly dynamic design team, who since launching their label in 2007, have won the hearts and minds of the industry and the public with their vibrant colours and unforgettable prints,” said Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British Fashion Council. “They demonstrated they are a thriving fashion label with a great vision to take the next step in building a global designer fashion brand.”
The duo met while studying at Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2000, and rose to sartorial stardom as street style and red-carpet favourites. Other candidates for 2014 included Mary Katrantzou, House of Holland, Emilia Wickstead, Osman and Zoe Jordan.
Since its inception in 2008, the Designer Fashion Fund has awarded top honours to Nicholas Kirkwood, Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders and Erdem. With Peter Pilotto’s highly-anticipated collaboration with Target launching next month, we can only dream of what is yet to come.
