Seventies Beauty At Sonia Rykiel

Anyone who’s been paying attention knows that there’s a Seventies vibe blowing through fashion for spring – as seen chez Marc Jacobs and at countless others since. The freespirited Sonia Rykiel girl is right in that vein, and makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury deftly worked a strong eye and lip look, by using a ruddy cream shadow around the eyes, the Teddy bronze pencil on the inner rims and piles of mascara. The magenta violet matte lip pencil that will hit M.A.C counters in time for spring works for everyone, she said, because it makes your eyes pop no matter what their color. For hair, pro stylist Guido Paulo gave the girls all-over curls. “We left-parted hair and used Redken Thickening Lotion to create body,” he explained, “then we used a half-inch barrel curling iron to create ringlets — with a bigger barrel for the hair around the face.” Finger comb and increase volume as needed with Wool Shake to add texture without shine. Yes, he knows it’s labor intensive – but if you’ve got the time, he said, the results are well worth it.
