Now that NYFW has actually hit the week-long mark, we’re into some heavy-hitting designers in the American sportswear market. One greatly celebrated of the sort is Michael Kors, who rings in his 30th anniversary with an on-point lesson in luxe minimalism. Mixing practical, athletic elements (thin rib tank dresses, slash-neckline tunics) with modern decadence (silk blouses, plush furs, merino and alpaca wools), the designer stays within a neutral palette of blush, camel, grey, and black, save for a couple of looks in fire-engine red. Kors deliveries a collection that reflects on and culminates in his “30 Years of American Luxury.” Audience members gush to one another following the show, undoubtedly taking mental notes for their fall wardrobe shopping list.
