Attending Fashion Week is sensory overload but here’s what stood out for me on the first day:

Emerald green: Imagine the luxe shade of a perfect emerald cut gem and how fabulous that looks in everything from chiffon to fox. Gorgeous at Gucci.

Stripes: I promise not to mention Prada again (okay, until tomorrow) but their zany, striped Carmen Miranda fruitbowl spring collection brightens my day every time I walk past the store window.

Flats: Finally footwear that’s actually comfortable is front and center in all of Milan’s top boutiques.

Fur: On the runway and in the streets, lush fur continues to be a leading look. Love it or hate it, it’s not going away.

Love/hate: The ’70s homage kicked off with a luxe sexy look at Gucci, but then veered into Austin Powers territory at Alberta Ferretti
