Milan Fashion Week: 4 Things We Loved on Day 3

Photography by Anthea Simms

Weather: I can’t be Canadian and not talk about the weather! Milan has been chilly but brilliantly sunny–the perfect weather for dashing all over town.

Shoes, shoes, shoes: Visited several showrooms today and loved all of the decorative footwear. Highlights included ice-pick heels at Bally, sheer beaded disco booties at Jimmy Choo, and berry suede pumps with oversized block heels at Giuseppe Zanotti.

Fellow Canadians: I love to see Canadians doing so well. Chatted with Winnipeg’s Mark Fast about his London show, Milan collection for Pinko, his upcoming Paris showroom and the leathers being made by Danier in Toronto.

Versace: I have a soft spot for Versace. I remember the first time I saw Gianni’s show back in the ’90s. I ate a piece of takeout pizza across the street before I went inside. All of the top girls walked the runway–Linda, Cindy, Naomi and Christy. Prince and Elton John were in the audience. Tonight felt like that night all over again. Prince was on the soundtrack tonight, the girls looked amazing, and Donatella nailed her big brother’s glamorama Italian sizzle. Classic!
