Despite styling troupes and superior access, truly chic red carpet outings are quite rare. Case in point, the Golden Globes. Many of us style trackers are experiencing fishtail gown fatigue, yet risk takers like Chloe Sevigny are often panned by the tabloid-reading masses. Thus, those few occasions when Hollywood glamour and forward fashion intermingle should be celebrated.
Ashley Olsen proved she was capable of striking the right balance in a bold Erdem frock. She wore the much-touted Canadian-bred designer to accompany her boyfriend Justin Bartha, of The Hangover. We love how the dress plays with Elizabethan allusions: the sedate sleeve length, raised waist and bodice covered in oversize petals.
The short hemline also benefited the petit mogul. Olsen wore matching Manolo Blahnik satin shoes—which could quickly turn her style stuffy. Avoiding this, she balances the ladylike regality of her look with tousled hair and relaxed makeup. No doubt Erdem must be very pleased to see his design worn with such ease.
