Torontonians will soon have one more luxury department store to choose from as Nordstrom is set to open a new location in Canada, in addition to the stores announced last fall. We’ll have to wait until fall 2016, however, before it opens in Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre, as the store is set to be three levels covering 188,000 square feet filled with clothing, accessories and beauty items by our favourite designers—including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Mary Katrantzou, Agent Provocateur and Jil Sander.
This announcement comes in the wake of an ongoing expansion atYorkdale, which is said to be one of North America’s most productive malls. This past fall, stores like Ann Taylor, Kate Spade New York and Anthropologie opened their doors, making the mall a serious competitor with other shopping centres, as it now offers a huge range of affordable and high-end fashions. Mulberry, Zara Home, David Yurman and more are also set to open at Yorkdale this year, which means we’ll be able to shop even more brand-name clothing—at Canadian prices!—a little closer to home.
The American retailer’s expansion into Canada will happen first in Calgary, with an anticipated opening in fall 2014, followed by Vancouver and Ottawa in spring 2015, and finally in Toronto at Yorkdale and Sherway Gardens in 2016.
