Mikhael Kale SS'14
Held offsite in an unfinished, industrial space on Broadview Avenue, Mikhael Kale’s spring show kicked off the official World MasterCard Fashion Week schedule on Friday night. Sexy was the key word for the show, and Kale deftly mixed feather-weight mohair knits with harder elements such as corsets and quilted leather jackets in a very body-con collection. As usual, the Central Saint Martins graduate’s tailoring is superb, and the use of fabric blocking and mixed materials elevated the silhouettes on the runway. There were metallic dresses, micro minis and one very unforgettable gold leather jacket-and-skirt combo, but Kale also balanced the collection out with jewel-toned suede, mixed pastels and plenty of pencil skirts.
