McQueen at the Met: Paper Doll Edition

A keepsake inspired by the late designer's work

McQueen at the Met: Paper Doll Edition

This evening, fashion’s elite will grace the red carpet in what is recognized as one of the top events of the year – The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala held in New York. This year, the Met will honour the late Alexander McQueen and his prolific designs. Spanning his 19-year career, the exhibition titled Savage Beauty will include 100 outfits and 70 accessories representing McQueen’s top collections.

As a keepsake, illustrator Tom Tierney has created a mini paper doll book featuring three cut-outs with over 30 designs. The whimsy of the miniature styles bring McQueen’s iconic fashion’s to those wishing to cherish the designer’s most celebrated works. Missing from book is Sarah Burton’s latest creation under the McQueen label, the royal wedding dress worn by Kate Middleton, but we think Tierney is saving that for a soon-to-be-released line dedicated to the new couple.

The Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty retrospective runs from May 4 to July 31. Watch for our coverage of tonight’s Met Ball tomorrow morning.
