A simple t-shirt with a powerful message – Maison Martin Margiela will launch its iconic charitable cotton-tee for the first time in Japanese. Further to the seasonal English version that was first released in 1994, the brand will unveil a new yearly edition to mark world AIDS day. Tees will be splashed with the phrase “There is more action to be done to fight aids than to wear this t-shirt but it’s a good start”, with plans to release versions in a different language annually. This fashionable tradition begins with Japanese and in true Margiela fashion, the language barrier for many will provoke conversation and bring awareness to affected communities worldwide. A percentage of the sales will be donated to AIDES, a French organization dedicated to fighting the HIV virus. The t-shirts will be available exclusively at Maison Martin Margiela stores, check out www.maisonmartinmargiela.com for details.
