Milan Fashion Week Diary: Day 1 / Day 2 / The Weekend / Day 6

After an unexpected 3 hour delay at Heathrow Airport I FINALLY landed in Milan only to be met with another long wait at customs. I realized that I was going to miss the Gucci show and started to stress. Felt a bit better that my flight was packed with British editors (including Lisa Armstrong of the Daily Telegraph) meaning that they were also in the same boat.

How can you tell you’re on a flight full of fashion editors and buyers? The amount of Céline, Fendi and Givenchy bags running rampant were a dead giveaway.

A little comic relief.
While in a mad dash to my hotel a bit of comic relief street side as we drove by a peculiarly parked car. Anything goes in Milan apparently since the cars are so small—this was not the only car I saw parked like this.

A few of my favourite invites
I arrive to a shopping bag full of invitations in my room. Yay! Fashion Christmas. I was kicking myself for not arriving in time for Gucci as it looked like an amazing opening show. Thank goodness for Style.com!

Moment of the day: Sitting just behind Vogue‘s Anna Wintour seated moments before the Alberta Ferretti show as the paparazzi goes into a frenzie.

In the thick of the camera frenzy
Spotted FLARE favourite Caroline Issa in the reception room before Alberta Ferretti looking beautiful as always.

Black and white aren’t going anywhere and that colour message for Fall 2013 is only getting stronger on the first day here in Milan at both Alberta Ferretti and Francesco Scognamiglio. Ferretti also showed feathers, fur and a parade of jewel tones.

Favourite show and the show I was most looking forward to of the day: No. 21.

With a lady like grunge quality (this trend is just getting started!) everything on the runway was wearable and covetable. Loved the details in the socks and shoes as both were completely covered in sparkling rhinestones.
